Mother's Day

Why not plan to throw a breakfast for 130 right in the midst of state testing?!  We are in the planning stages of our annual third grade Mother's Day Breakfast.  We wouldn't think of not doing it, even as stressed and busy as we are right now.  Since April is Poetry Month, we use that time to start our books of poetry and present them to our moms at the breakfast.  It sounds harder than it is.  Our team is all about getting big things done with the least amount of stress as possible!  Here is our invitation that we will print on pink paper:

We will put several long tables down each side of our hallway (to have two serving lines) covered in pink paper, lime green napkins, hot pink plates, fresh flowers (Costco), etc...  We buy the pre-cut fruit bowls, giant muffins (which we cut in half), assorted pastries, mini donuts, and orange juice at Costco.  Everyone on the team brings a couple of pretty trays and we load them up with pastries.  The tables are decorated after school the day before the breakfast, and we put the food out early - moms and kids arrive at 7:30.  I play some classical music in the hall and in the classrooms, light candles (really just my Scentsy candle warmer).  The kids are just sooooo pleased to share their work and act like they did the whole breakfast.  It's so cute.
So you may be wondering about the cost?  We actually do it (food, flowers, cups, plates, napkins) for around $150.  Costco (or Sam's) is really the easiest way to feed that many people and make it as special as possible.  We HOPE the moms love it, they really seem to.  They do so much for us during the year.  We never have to plan a student party, so it's the least we can do!

If you are inspired to do a breakfast for your moms, I'd be glad to answer any questions!  Let me hear about what you think!!

Pictures to come!
